When French took Vietnam, they wanted to tax everything from food to boats. Vietnamese made a big basket and waterproofed it. When Tax people came, they explained that it is just a big basket so no tax. They waterproofed it with water buffalo dung then sealed it with tree sap. Necessity is mother of invention.
